Vinyāsa Krama Ethics

  1. Beneficence – be of practical benefit for the student and cause no harm.

  2. Autonomy – the student has the right to reject the treatment or instruction.

  3. Respect – the student and teacher are to be treated with respect.

  4. Informed Consent – the student should be advised about the practice or technique in advance, as much as is practicle. The latter also applies to any fees involved.

  5. Justice – fair treatment of all students regardless of age, ability, race, or sex.

Guidelines

In Person & Online

  • Avoid eating two hour before practice and refrain from drinking water 30 mins before practice.

  • Wear comfortable clothing.

  • No shoes or socks.

  • I recommend purchasing your own yoga mat.  Yogamatters have a great selection and are not too expensive.

  • Commitment.  Students should try and commit to practice at home at least 3 or 4 times a week. Even if only for 15 mins.  It's better to do a short practice daily rather than a longer practice once a week.

In Person

  • For in person classes bring a towel.

  • I encourage students to try and stick with one practice and one teacher otherwise it can become confusing.  If you feel the VKM system is not right I am more than happy to recommend other teachers based on your needs.

Zoom

  • For led classes on zoom it's important that you have yoga mat, blanket, two blocks and a yoga strap.

  • Camera must be kept on during class and must be placed so that I can see students clearly.  It is important that I see your practice and give instruction and give adjustment instructions when required. Any students who do not have their camera on I will need to ask them to leave and the price will not be refunded.

Benefits of Self Practice & Private Lessons

  • Cultivates self discipline

  • The students then have the tools to have their own practice and practice anywhere at anytime without always relying on a teacher.

  • Practising for yourself and not others (feeding the ego).

  • Less injuries as we go at the student's pace and not to a general pace of a led class.

  • Awareness. You will cultivate a better understanding of your own energy rather than that of others within a studio setting.
